JUNK! 1
I bought this unit back in November, 2007. First of all the instructions are awful! Everything is crossed referenced with something else. As you read the "instructions" there are constant numbers that tells you what page the other Instructions are on and often those instructions are NOT helpful. It is without a doubt the WORST instruction book I've ever tried to decipher. I swear, I think whoever wrote it has English as a second language!

I eventually figured out how to copy a VHS tape to Disc, but actually, it wasn't much like the instructions and that "one button" thing they advertise is the "one button" after you have pressed a lot more ahead of it.

Still, I was satisfied with the product outcome...then, without warning... I was copying an old tape to DVD and got an F06 error message. First of all, it was like pulling teeth finding any info on that, I finally went online, and sadly found that basically, my unit was broken. I opened it up and was able to get the VHS tape out, but it had been broken and wrapped around some of the insides of the machine. Luckily it was at the beginning, so I was able to repair the tape. Then I read on several forums that apparently this machine often "eats tapes" that are a few years old--well that's crazy...most of us need these machines to put our OLD tapes on DVDs!

After I got the tape out, I decided to try another VHS. The VHS tapes would go in, but then it would spit them right back out again.

So, I've had this thing less than a year and it's already not working. I only copied about 10 tapes!

All I want is a very simple way to copy VHS, DVs, to DVDs...why is this so hard to do?

Has had its good times and its bad 3
Overall it has been decent. I've had it about a year.

First impressions: the instruction book is very confusing - although the hook-up was actually pretty simple the book made it seem hard.

Got to know it better and now it does the job it was meant to. My main reason for purchase was to transfer all my VHS to DVD. It often has errors in the process - so I still record from TV to a VHS first and then transfer to DVD. I don't trust the DVD side to do a flawless recording without locking up.

There are also times when I am doing the transfer, everything seems fine, the transfer completes and when I check it on the DVD there is nothing on the disc, even though you can see that it did burn something onto the DVD-R. Many DVD-R's have been ruined by this and by problems with finalizing the disc.

New problem occurred today. Not sure if its a 2008 problem, since it is early in the year. It starting giving me an error: Disc cannot be played in this region and the clock/date kept resetting itself. I restored all settings to original and it seems to be okay right now, we'll see how long that lasts.

Price here seems high, I found this one for $189 on another site, so do research before purchasing.

Do not purchase this! 1
This is JUNK. It was either broke or in the shop the first year i owned it. Now it is in the closet. It will only play and not record. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM! Save your money.

Great product 4
Was able to record my old home movies on to DVD without too many surprises. The unit worked flawlesly. Remember to "finalize" your DVD projects when you think they're complete.

Works as I hoped it would 4
The recorder does a good job of recording VHS tapes and DVDs. We do a lot of time shifting and this recorder does a great job. I'm pleased with it and the price was right.
