Burned twice! 1
I really loved these speakers with their cute little bag that had a space for the ipod itself (yes, lame reason, but there it is). They also had such good sound for small speakers, that when they started malfunctioning by making popping cut out sounds with heavy bass, I returned them for a refund and ordered them again from a different seller. Unfortunately, I had the same popping noises happen again within a week, so I had to return them once again. Now I give up despite the cute bag. The manufacturer really needs to work on this major defect if it effected one buyer twice!

Ideal for travel 4
The sound is of good quality for compact easy to pack speakers. Nice tone and range. Sufficient volume for an average sized room. Perfect for a hotel, cruise ship cabin or college dorm. I have always liked Altec Lansing speakers and this is no exception. Comes with an excellent well padded travel case. I have owned and used it for almost a year and have no reliability issues.

bargain speaker - poor volume control 4
This is a relatively cheap speaker with good sound quality - perfect for a small room or to bring to trips - particularly hotel rooms and cruises. The AC adaptor comes in different plug options. Included bag for the speaker is also nice. The only downside: volume is pre-set to a certain volume every time u turn it on - and it's way too loud.

Perfect speaker/dock for our 10 yr. old 5
This compact, easy to set up, portable, one-piece unit delivers incredibly good sound. Our 10 year old granddaughter was thrilled. Not the latest model, but the price was fantastic as a result and who cares about the model number anyway!

Nice sound for a nice price 5
I purchased this item for the purpose of being able to listen to Ipod with battery power. This unit is compact, easy to carry and store, lightweight and has great sound, especially for the price. I won't compare the sound to Bose (it is not at that level) but it very, very good. I recommend this product to anyone wanting good sound at a good price that is easily portable.

Customer reviews

Nice Pair of earbuds 4
It is a decent pair of earbuds for the price. It is comfortable to my ears but may easily not for others. Buds are made of hard rubber and not really soft enough (not "jellylike" or "jeleez" as the package seems to convey) to conform with the shape of your inner ears.

Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Good audio at both low and high volume (What would you ask for a 5-10$ earbuds? I am not expecting it to sound like a 99$ Bose or 300$ Shure)
- No detachable foam or silicon buds to lose

Cons:
- The size of the earbuds will not fit everybody.
- The cord is too wiry and rubbery. The surface is a dust magnet.

Not bad for the price 4
I just bought a pair of these (Black Licorice). I needed them for a small Sony TV sound radio. The radio relies on the earphone's cord for its antenna. Sony's own ear phones have never offered reliable reception and I've tried several of their cheap models. The reception I get with these ear buds is far better than I've ever experienced with this radio using either Sony or Koss ear buds. I don't ever use this radio to listen to music. The speech clarity is outstanding.

Priced right Earbuds 3

Earbuds have good sound, plug size are large and don't stay in the ear as well as some. Cord could be longer. But what do you expect for such a good price.

The worst ear buds EVER 1
I've never hated an item enough to write a review until I purchased these things. Don't waste your money. They are terrible. They are too big to fit in any normal ear, too inflexible to allow for normal movement (the things fall out unless your head is completely still) and the sound is too crappy for anyone with a modicum of sound discretion. Simply put... DON'T BUY THESE.

Sound is okay; skipping is unacceptable 2
This unit is primarily used at my weekly music lesson to record a 1 to 1 1/2 minute song played by my instructor. He still uses a cassette recorder and I thought having my "homework" recorded on the iPod 30g Video would be much better.

He's normally very meticulous and plays each and every note that's on the sheet music. However, I noticed after the first week that there were notes missing (which really confuses things when you're trying to play along). I thought, at first, that maybe he had mixed things up a bit just to keep me on my toes. However, it's done this every time he records a song; always happening at different places with a recording.

Since this is the only reason I bought this, I was sorry that I kept it almost two months before reading the less than stellar reviews (thought it was just this particular unit or something); otherwise I would have returned it immediately for a refund. Next time I make this type of purchase I'll read ALL the reviews ... not just the good ones.

Does the job! 5
This product does what it says it can do. My girlfriend has been using it for two weeks+ for a summer class. It has certainly worked well and has definitely aided her studying.

The only drawback, if any, you need to ensure it has a full charge before each use and charge it after. She takes a 1 hour and 20 minute class 4x a week and it will get her a full lecture each time.

Highly recommend!

Sounded great for 3 recordings, then died. 1
When I got this unit, I took it out of the box and tried to plug it into my Ipod. And tried. And tried. The plug wouldn't go in. I had to move the plug around a bit and apply more pressure than any other ipod docking plug I have ever used. Finally, it plugged in. Unlike what it says in the manual, the record function did not automatically start. What did happen was a "voice memo" line appeared under extras, I believe it was. When I selected that, it had an option to set the record quality to high or low, and a start recording option. I started the record, let it run for 20 seconds, and stopped it. The recording I had just made appeared right under the quality setting option and the start record option. I highlighted it, pushed the center button, and play and delete options appeared. Playing it, I was pleased with the quality.

After coming back to the device later, I tried plugging it back in, had the same problem with the stubborn plug. It recorded fine again. I made another recording with the auto gain on to see the difference. It definitely amplifies nicely, but adds hiss.

The next recording I tried came out as a hash of hissing, static and crackling. If you are old enough, you have heard an old AM radio in a thunderstorm. That crackling and popping was very close to what I got out of this microphone after that.

The plug obviously has something wrong with it judging from the way it didn't want to work smoothly. Whether or not that was the cause of the hideous noise on all subsequent recordings I can't say. I unplugged and replugged it numerous times, and always got that hash of static and crackling.

To say I'm disappointed in this device is an uderstatement. I hate shoddily constructed defective equipment. The "stand" that it comes with is simply a folded piece of plastic. The "quick memo" button on the side of the microphone doesn't work with the ipod classic. I could have overlooked either of these things if it has survived more than three recordings and the plug had worked even decently.

Buyer beware.

Color me Impressed! 4
I didn't really expect much from this tiny little mic, but I was underestimating the sound quality. I used it to record lectures @ school and found it to be quite helpful and it even picked up background music pretty well...so I say go for it. A bit pricey but worth having it available.

No complaints 5
It delivered exactly what I was looking for. High quality recording while charging the iPod.

Customer reviews

Excellent value, excellent player 5
I have been using my Zen Xtra for three years, and it turned out to be the correct choice for me based on the market at that time. Looking back on it now, I have to say that I'd be inclined to buy this player again in today's market. Apple players are stylish, but they cost too much and are only now beginning to offer the cavernous storage Creative made available when this player was new.

I have had the WMP 11/10 rollback and firmware issues, but the frustration was minimal and I was able to work through the process with a little help from Google. I use my player primarily for entertainment while surfing twisties on my motorcycle, and it's held up beautifully and flawlessly for that purpose.

It's large because it employs an ATA-100 laptop drive for storage. To be honest, the player itself isn't much larger than the drive and battery life is excellent for me even after three years of heavy use on the original battery. I'm only now thinking of buying a spare to take on bike trips, but only to extend my play time between charges. The original battery is still going strong and I have no real concern about it flaking out any time soon.

Some reviews claim the interface is poor. I disagree. The interface is different from Apple's, which most manufacturers emulate because Apple has a well-designed interface. The interface on the Zen Xtra is perfectly useable and intuitive, and doubly so for me since I have ~20k songs on my player that I actually like. I set it to "Play any track" and just jam the miles away.

So... three years later I would still pick this player over most other available options. It was a value then, and it would be a value today. The "Brick" was, is, and will continue to be an awesome player.

Very good. 4
A very good mp3 player. It had bigger space and was cheaper that the IPOD. I used it so much that I had to replace the battery and I easily bought a battery on ebay (it was cheap too!). Something you cannot do with an IPOD. Overall a quality unit. A little bit on the bigger side, but it was able to hold my entire music collection. The software that comes with it, makes syncing it easy.

Headphone jack sucks 3
This worked fine for the first year or so I had it but eventually the headphone jack needed resoldering since it detached from the insides.

better than an ipod 5
THIS IS THE BEST EVER, IT IS LIKE AN IPOD BUT MORE SPACE FOR LIKE 1/10 THE PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE ITTTTTT

Reliable and Sturdy 5
I have had this "brick" as some people here call it for about 4 years. It sounds great and is amazing for listening at home or while excercising. I take it to the gym, bike riding, hiking, jogging and roller blading. I've dropped it a few times and it keeps going strong. The only problem is the battery life is low and only lasts 3 hrs at most these days. The replacent battery is $50 online, so it may be a good investment.

Complete OWNAGE 5
The IM7 rips to shreds any other speaker system I have ever owned - that INCLUDES a few Logitech 2.1 systems I've used for my dorm - that also includes my roommate's Harman Kardon and Sony 2.1 systems.

This bad boy fills my entire 35X25 dorm up no problem, even with a crowd of loud, drunken Wellesley girls. The bass is unexpectedly full, loud, and bumping. The main speakers hit the highs, mids, and lows no problem. Hip Hop sounds AMAZING on the IM7.

I bought the speakers with the carrying case and WILL DEFINITELY be taking it to a few hotel room parties with me and overseas for Spring Break.

As for problems with the dock or the ipod freezing - my best advice is that if you have a more recent Ipod model you should be fine - the newer hard drives can deal with the BASS BUMPING intensity of this speaker system. The remote control is weak, but I could honestly care less.

I give this speaker system 5 out 5 shot glasses - definitely a must buy, oh and did I forget to mention that it's PORTABLE!!!

excellent product 5
This is one of the most amazing audio system for ipod that I ever have, I recomended 100%.

Great Value! 5
Great way to enjoy or share your idpod collection of tunes. V. good sound quality for the money. Recommend getting the carrier for it also for easy transport. We looked at other more expensive ways to to the same thing and glad we saved the money!

3 1/2 year and counting 5
I have had this for 3.5 years and the sound is AMAZING! My first unit had blown speakers and had to be returned (back @ Xmas 2005). This second unit has been old faithful. I now use it via Aux. Jack for my Zune and I charge my ol' Ipod at the same time. Remote is great. Well made. Only thing, the Ipod Nano does not fit even with adapter. So, for Aux use or old Ipods this is grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

Excellent Sound! 5
I bought this unit not only for a playback instrument for my Apple Touch, but also for a speaker for my Apple laptop. On both accounts, it is everything I wanted it to be and I would recommend it highly.

The sound on this product is excellent. I was uncertain that the bass would meet my expectations but found it to be excellent. Adjustments to your sound preferences are easily made with the remote. The feel of the iM7 is solid and is not flimsy. Volume control is excellent, however, bass with bottom out with very loud volume settings. For "normal" listening levels, this is an excellent player.

Nice feature: Charges your Apple while listening.

Note, if you have a Apple Touch, the front door will NOT close as it will for the other Apple products. Adaptors are included for all Apple units, but Altec has not fitted this unit for the Touch. So, I just leave the door open or I hook it up using an aux cord.

Great Sound - Great Value.

Customer reviews

Happy with this box. 4
Got this box for a week now and I definitely made the right choice in purchasing this brand considering there are a lot of choices out there. I could not agree more with the other reviewer emphasizing the importance of having the S-video option to get maximum clarity. Picture sharpness is just a lot better using this connection especially when you are viewing on a large monitor/screen. Installation and setup was easy, at least for me. I must mention that if you want to use the S-video, you have to purchase the cables for it, both S-video and the audio. It only came with the regular antenna cable which you will need in connecting the converter box to your external or indoor antenna. One negative comment about this unit is the small buttons of the remote control that it came with. It is not very easy to use specially the channel and the volume buttons which I use everytime. The good thing is, I have the option of programming the other remote that came with my TV which has bigger buttons for these functions. Of course, my programmable remote does not have all the features that the converter's remote control have. So, I always keep the original remote within my arms reach just in case I need it. This is the only reason why I did not give this converter box a five star rating. Oh, I almost forgot, using this box gave me other channels that I never knew existed and they're a lot.

Best reception out of 5 5
I've tried 4 other boxes, and this Channel Master gets the best reception, by far. Picture is excellent, there is a 12-hour program guide, and one button on the remote changes the view setting, so you can compare them readily.

S-Video, nice remote, all around a really solid unit. I'm going to get an extra.

Surprisingly sensitive, good image quality 3
The Channel Master is worth its somewhat higher cost (it is coupon eligible). I tested its sensitivity by feeding it signals with 14db of attenuation, and it locked in fine on stations that look very marginal on analog (snowy, barely viewable). Like others, its signal strength meter works even on stations it can't lock (below 10%-15% signal strength).
Its image quality through the S-video input is quite good, almost DVD quality. Composite video quality is not bad.
The manual is a little terse, so if you are buying this for an unsophisticated person, they would need your guidance on setup and use. I am not sure whether it does analog pass-thru, because it found only digital stations.

It's worth the price just for the S-Video output alone! 5
I had received my CM-7000 last week. It has a very stable tuner and it tunes in all of my local digital stations. It is easy to setup and navigate. The one bonus that this converter box has, that no others currently have on the market at this time, is the S-Video output. That is the main reason I had purchased this box. The S-Video picture quality is amazing on my 1996 Sony XBR monitor/receiver, using the Sony's S-Video input jack. The picture quality is equal to a DVD player connected to the same S-Video input jack on my Sony TV. Also, Channel Master is an established television reception company that has been around at least 60 years and has been making great quality TV antennas, too.

Very Good Unit 4
Have had the Channel Master for a few weeks now (got one of the first ones after it was certified)and am very happy with it. The set-up is easy to get all the signals and you can update at anytime if more stations are available in your area. Have used it both on a small 12" set and on a 40" set and both have excellent picture. After some research, this unit seemed to be best so far.

XACT Communication XTR1 Digital Audio Player with Digital Synthesizer FM Tuner and 128MB of Built-in Memory

Customer reviews

It lasted for four years 2
This receiver lasted four years, until the husband got lazy and decided to never turn it off. It lived as long as it did because we were diligent about turning it off when we weren't using it. It does get very, very hot. Maybe he was subconsciously angling for an upgrade? In any event, it's inexpensive and we had no significant problems- though it is currently obsolete.

The Worst! 1
I will never buy another product from XACT ever again. I purchased then receiver, boombox and portable kit and the receiver went bad so i lost out on everything. What a waste of money!

Xact XTR1 1
Unit failed after six hours of use and was returned for refund. Will not buy another.

AVOID 1
I have replaced this unit 3 times in 2 years. I have replaced the car kit 3 times in 2 years. I have replaced the home kit twice in 2 years. I would AVOID purchasing this company's products. The only reason I keep replacing parts is I don't want to invest in a new radio, home kit and car kit all over again. At some point I will.

It are work good 4
Radio tjhis is good werkr.I likked it much. It am smal and goos much to place. However it much hot too soon after turned on later.friendz too like smalnes amd remarked it is work to good. For soon to later. Thanks you
