Love them, except for one major flaw
Compared to other in-ear headphones:

Comfort: Excellent! Not only are the foam "marshmallows" more squishy and comfortable than ANY headphone I've ever owned, but the balance of their weight seems to better keep them in your ear. Apple's ear buds or Phillips' Virtual Surround, for example, always felt like they were gradually sliding out of my ears. As a result, I was constantly pushing them around, and my ears were none too happy about it.

Sound: Good sound, though not the best, but its major strength is how much ambient noise is blocked out. They're like ear plugs with a speaker in the middle; you can still hear just fine walking down a busy street with an ambulance wailing past.

Durability: Poor, and the reason I rate them a 3 and not a 5. If you refer to the product photo: where the cable connects to the audio jack, the plastic molding around the wire is the same design as you would find on Apple ear buds. Rather than being flexible to distribute wear and tear, the plastic molding is rigid enough that it creates a pressure point at its top. The cable bends back and forth at this single spot much more than others and gradually breaks. Essentially, this "protection" merely moves the pressure point a half inch up the cable.

After a little over a year of use, these headphones broke in the same manner my Apple ear buds all have: at that pressure point the cable started looking a bit pinched, one of the speakers started sounding a little crackly, and by the end of the week only one side of the headphones worked. I did use these headphones on a daily basis, but always treated them as gently as one can expect of an item that lives in a purse and gym bag when not in use.

I've seen other headphones with jacks that seem less likely to wear in this way. You'd think a design flaw like this would stop being produced sooner or later. Until then, I will stop buying them, despite this item's wonderful comfort level and good sound quality.

JVC Marshmallows
Great product with soft, flexible (marshmallow) ear pieces, excellent acoustics, and just the right length connection wire. Works great in my i-pod.

Jvc Marshmallows
First off, I did the Kramer mod to these, so they are not stock. These are excellent 'phones for the price, and after the Kramer mod (google jvc marshmallow kramer mod) the bass is much more balanced with the mids and highs. The sound isolation is decent, especially with higher frequencies, such as keyboard typing. These do suffer, as do most cheap 'phones, from the stethoscope effect, as well as picking up sounds from an mp3 player. Bottom line, after the mod they are better balanced and have decent isolation, which is all I need for mowing, not great sound but excellent for the price.

You can't beat better headphones for $4. Seriously! Great sound isolation and great sound all around. I bought 2 pairs because I beat on them pretty hard. My originals still work, but I run a lot and there have been times when I have caught the cord on various things - branches, fingers, you name it....and yanked them out of my ears (ouch!) and I eventually created a tiny short in one of the wires due to the abuse. I love these and I want to make sure I have a couple of pairs for years to come! I have talked a few of my friends into trying these and they love them as well (and have bought a couple of pairs)!
