Great sound, bad hardware 2
Let me start by saying I respect Ultimate Ears and the products they make. I think they deliver high quality sound and their reputation precedes them.

I bought a set of Metro.fi 2 headphones about a year and a half ago. Initially, I used them every day at work. After about six months, I used them only a few times a week while I was working out.

The moment I started using them, I fell in love with the sound. They delivered across a wide frequency range and produced an excellent bass tone. I wasn't too crazy about how they fit, even after purchasing additional ear tips, but I thought it was worth it for the sound.

Most recently though, they simply started falling apart; the screen filter fell off one side and the other side only transmitted about 25% of the sound it should have (even with balance in the middle). This was very disappointing and I had to set them aside. When I go online to look up warranty or contact information, I'm not finding what I need.

In comparison, I just received a pair of Metro.fi 100 earphones and I love them. Good sound and hardware for half the price.

I take good care of my headphones and they should have lasted at least another year or two. I'm giving the Metro.fi 2 earphones a two out of five. They deliver great quality audio but the hardware design, in terms of fit and durability, is missing. I would not recommend these to anyone.

Poor Quality 1
I bought this earphone 13 months ago, it now has qaulity problem.
The volume on the left earphone is lower than the right one. I tested on many devices, and even swithed listening on different ears, the same problem. I can't believe such expense earphone breaks in just over a year. The manufacture tells me it's not covered anymore. Very disappointing!

There are better earphones out there... 2
These don't really fit well in the ears, like others have said. Also, the audio isn't especially clear (especially base and midrange), which for the price they go for is a shame.

Good sound, poor longevity 3
The sound quality for these earphones are really good. Although my biggest problems have come with the wires. I've gone through 2 pairs in a little over a year and each time the wire had damaged and it disrupted the sound. The wires are thick and if you tend to roll your earphones to pack them away they'll eventually conform to that shape to and make it more difficult to unravel and use comfortably. These earphones also don't fair so well in the cold. With both earphones I had they had begun to get worse with the winter season coming around as the wires hardened, making it easier to break. Also with the wire hardening on my first pair you can hear the thumps of the wire hitting anything from your hand to your chest in the earphones (very annoying).

Overall really good sound just may not last as long as you'd like. I do use my earphones almost every day so they go through a lot of use but if your careful they may last you longer. The thick and stiff wires also don't make them so great for running or gym usage.

Below average out of the box, but good with modifications. 2
These earphones are tuned too much toward the high end. In other words, too much treble, not enough bass. A workaround is the EQ setting on your iPod. When set to "Small Speakers," these earphones sound quite good, since that setting effectively reduces the highs and boosts the lows. "Treble Reducer" was the next best setting. But that's neither here nor there. These earphones should perform well at the normal setting, especially at this price point.

Initially, I thought it might be a problem with fit. All the included eartips were too large for me, and if you don't get these buds placed snug inside your ears, they will sound tinny. But I found another workaround. I discovered the smaller eartips from my Maximo 490 earphones fit the Metros, so I ordered some replacement tips off eBay. With the smaller tips, I get a nice, snug fit, but the treble-heavy sound quality persists when set to "normal" EQ mode. I noticed another reviewer found all the eartips too small, so I guess you can't please everybody. But earphones at this price point should have more fit options.
