This is a MUST for minidisc users !!!!
This unit is the BEST for transferring audio tracks from minidisc to your PC. Use the optical in on this unit, thru the USB connection to your pc and the digital sound is transferred to the computer. Then use the software that comes with this unit to edit and save all tracks. You can record one entire minidisc at a time, then separate each track individually. I have been looking for something like this forever !
THIS UNIT IS THE BEST THING since chicken soup !!! And it is soooooo easy to transfer digital sound from your Minidisc to your PC..... it is unbelievable ! ! ! !

Um, it's okay
I bought this to not really improve the sound quality of my laptop but to get back the "stereo mix" that is missing from Vista. It was waaaay to complicated to get working and to be honest, I can't figure out what I did to finally get the thing recognized. Turtle Beach support emailed me pages of things to try. I don't know if installing sound cards is just that complicated or this thing is just not compatible with a lot. But I finally got it actually recognized and it works. Unfortunately, I can't use my laptops internal speakers anymore. And I don't really notice a difference in sound quality. But i do know have my stereo mix back. So, I guess i'm satisfied with it.
