Quality Product
Huge. Somewhat heavy, so make sure it fits your case before buying. I have an Antec 900 case so I had sufficient space. It is also known to be fragile. But as long as you are careful (like with any computer product) you should have no trouble at all. Keeps my Q6600 around 26C at idle, around 38 @ max load, a significant reduction from my stock heat sink that came with my Q6600 which maxed out around 59C @ full load, around 38C idle. Did I mention it looks awesome in my case as well?
Zalman CNPS9700LED
This was a relatively easy install, but I have been building my own machines since 1988. I don't think this would be a good idea for a novice unless they are mechanically inclined. You should be forewarned, to do your research and make sure the case is big enough for this cooler! I installed this cooler in an Antec 900 case on an XFX 780i motherboard. It was a pretty close fit. You would only want to install this massive cooler on the board before installing the board in the case. If you are doing an upgrade you will almost without a doubt have to remove the motherboard to install this cooler. It works flawlessly and keeps my CPU as cool as a cucumber. I couldn't be more pleased and of course you have the cool factor. My 11 year old son likes the cooler with it's blue LED's along with the red and yellow LED's on the memory and the blue, green and tricolor LED case fans. I hope this helps. Chris
Excellent cooler
I can't recommend this cooler highly enough. I've used several Zalman cooling products, including water cooling, and all their stuff is of excellent quality and reliability.
I've bought three of these fans for my most recent builds, and they are fantastic. Even with a quad core CPU, I run this on the lowest speed and it keeps things nice and cool (and quiet!).
The only "con" is that they're dangerous to handle. Take care with it or you'll slice your hands up.
Keeps cold
Keeps my CPU at 32C at idle and 37C with a normal load on it (AutoCAD). Dropped the temps ~5C compared to the stock HSF. Blue LED looks great with my Antec 900.
It's HUGE! I had about 1cm between the top of this HSF and the side panel on my case. But regardless it fits fine even with a fan on the side panel.
My only complaint was how long it took to ship. I ordered it the same day I ordered a bunch of other parts and it took more than a week longer to get here, taking a total of 12 business days to arrive.
Specs: C2D E8500, Asus P5Q-E, 4gb XMS2, 600w w0129ru, eVga 9600gt, Antec 900.
Best CPU Cooler
Excellent CPU cooler, with adjustable speed control is just what I need for my computer which runs 24 hour a day. I can adjust the speed to minimum when not in use. Also, it has a cool blue LED inside fan which gives a nice effect for you case.
